Dub Waldrip was president and chief executive officer of Spade Ranches for 37 years. He oversaw growth of the ranches to 350,000 acres in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. After he was hired in 1967 as a multi-ranch manager, the commercial beef production per acre for Spade Ranches almost doubled and range conditions improved. Waldrip was a longtime national beef industry leader. He was National Cattlemen’s Association president in 1982-83, an honorary director of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and a Texas Cattle Feeders Association director.
