W.D. Farr was a Colorado icon in ranching, livestock feeding and water development. He was chairman of the board and major stockholder of Farr Farms, an integrated farming, feeding and ranching operation on 2,000 acres of irrigated farmland, a 26,000-head capacity feedlot and a 16,000-acre ranch near Greeley. He owned the 21,000-acre Seventy Ranch Corp. Farr was active in the National Cattlemen’s Association and served as president in 1970. Perhaps his greatest legacy was four decades of service to ensuring the future water supply of northern Colorado.
