Watkins (Watt) Reynolds Matthews

Watt Matthews was known and respected for his leadership in the preservation of the values and heritage of ranching. Born into legendary pioneer families, Matthews became co-manager of Lambshead Ranch in 1941 and general manager in 1977. The Matthews and Reynolds families were among the first Anglo settlers in the region and helped establish the state’s signature cattle industry. Matthews continued to play a vital role in the ranching industry throughout his life and guided the family business for 56 years.
