Linda Davis was a fourth-generation rancher whose father, Albert Mitchell, was the first National Golden Spur recipient in 1978. Davis grew up on her family’s Tequesquite Ranch in Albert, N.M., and learned ranching as a ranch hand. After her marriage, she moved to the historic CS Ranch near Cimarron, N.M., where her children continue to operate the ranch, making it one of the state’s largest family-operated ranches. Her involvement in ranching and the livestock industry extended beyond the ranch to the state, regional and national levels.
