RECIPIENT

Chip Merrill was a fourth-generation Texas rancher and grandson of a trail driver. He lived on and operated the XXX Ranch (family brand since 1872). Merrill was director of the TCU Ranch Management Program for 33 years before stepping back from administration and serving as Burnett Ranches Professor. He retired in 1996 as Director Emeritus. Merrill was a past president and fellow of the International Society for Range Management and received the Frederick Renner Award as the society’s highest recognition for contributions to the profession.
