Quarter Horse News called Buster Welch “one of the most celebrated horsemen and cattlemen of the 20th century.” Welch won five National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) World Championship Futurities, four World Cutting Horse Championships, and three NCHA Derby competitions. He was inducted into the NCHA and the American Quarter Horse Association Halls of Fame and received the Charles Goodnight Award. Welch raised cattle under the “B Lazy W” brand and marketed calves to Coleman Natural Meats for almost two decades to fill a demand for naturally grown foods.
